Checklists

Please see the AWS Foundational Technical Review Guide for more details and step-by-step instructions for requesting a review.

The specific process and requirements to complete an AWS Foundational Technical Review depend on how and where the components of your product are deployed and managed. For the purposes of the FTR, components are categorized based on the following attributes:

  1. Who is responsible for deploying and managing the software (i.e. the AWS Partner or the customer)
  2. Whether the product is sold on AWS Marketplace

Most software products have only a single component type. For example, a SaaS application would be considered Partner Hosted even if that application has multiple microservices or APIs spread across multiple AWS accounts. Similarly, a product deployed on Amazon EC2 instances running in the customer’s account that has multiple types of nodes and data stores would be considered a single Customer Deployed component.

Please answer the below questions for EACH component of your solution that is deployed.

Where does your software product run?

Partner-Hosted

Validation Checklist

Partner Hosted components are deployed, owned, and managed by you, the AWS Partner, in an AWS account you fully control. These can be multi-tenant or single tenant deployments.

If you are deploying and managing software you do not own or did not write, your offering should be classified as a managed service. In these cases, you should not complete an FTR. Please contact your Partner Development Manager (PDM) to discuss the details of your offering.

Checklist for Partner-Hosted solution is also available in Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Customer-Deployed

Validation Checklist

Customer Deployed components run on instances, containers, or functions in a customer’s AWS account. These may be Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) distributed through AWS Marketplace, or other packaged software that is licensed for customers to run on compute resources they own. The customer is responsible for deploying and operating the software, while you as the AWS Partner provide documentation on how to properly configure and run the software on AWS.

Machine Learning Products on AWS Market Place

Validation Checklist

There are two types of Amazon SageMaker products listed in AWS Marketplace: 1/ Model Package (A pre-trained model for making predictions that does not require any further training by the buyer). 2/ Algorithm (A model that requires the buyer to supply training data before it makes predictions. The training algorithm is included). These products follow the guidelines defined by the AWS Marketplace team and are eligible for FTR. Partners can request an FTR on Partner Central using the self-assessment worksheet on this checklist.

Data Exchange (ADX)

Validation Checklist

These file-based datasets are delivered using AWS Data Exchange and meet the guidelines defined by AWS Data Exchange. These products are eligible for FTR. You can approve FTR for these products without any further validation. Partners can request an FTR on Partner Central using the self-assessment worksheet on this checklist.

AMI and Container Based Products on AWS Marketplace

Validation Checklist

These are customer deployed solutions available on MP. These products can be identified by following the “Buy Now on AWS Marketplace” link on the offering page. These solutions go through significant amount of validation my MP team before listing. However, there are few requirements on Customer Deployed FTR which are not covered by MP validation. If a Partner applies for FTR for one of these products, it will only be validated for these missing controls which are listed in this checklist. Partners can request an FTR on Partner Central using the self-assessment worksheet on this checklist.

Direct Connect (DX)

Validation Checklist

This checklist is for partners having direct connect solutions. These are partners that help customers establish network connectivity between AWS Direct Connect locations and the customer.
